Pearls of the Mediterranean

Portorož & Piran are the centre of an incredible part of the Mediterranean on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula. Portorož, a city with a holiday atmosphere, lies in a leeward bay and has a very pleasant climate due to its proximity to the sea. The neighbouring, ancient city of Piran is one of the most beautiful Mediterranean cities and one of the best preserved historic cities in Europe. The whole area is a string of natural attractions and cultural sights, all lined up along only a few kilometres.

A place of incredible views

The exceptional geographical position, flysch cliffs and high hills that descend to the sea create incredible views that can be enjoyed from numerous vantage points. When the weather is clear, you can see the outline of the Venetian lagoon in the west. A bit to the north, above the Gulf of Trieste, you can see the snowy peaks of the Alps. From many locations, you can see the nearest coast of Croatian Istria. You can instantly indulge in a visual trip to three countries all at once.

Mediterranean climate

Portorož and Piran are characterised by a mild climate with hot summers and warm winters. October weather is slowly leaving the Summer temperatures behind and welcomes guests with warm early autumn sun rays and around 20°C air temperature. Seawater remains around 18°C which is enough for the bravest to jump in for a quick dip.
